The lives of plants and animals throughout Florida are entwined with fire.
After flames and smoke, Florida Dry Prairie plants return in full force out of the black ashes.
First come the grasses. Shooting green lines at the sun.
Grasshoppers return to feed on fresh grasses in the postburn garden.
The grasshoppers disappear into the prairie by sight, not sound. Ash-colored in the ash. Bright green in the rejuvenated grass.
If you live in a fire prone place, you have to adapt to fire.
Listen carefully and notice the tiny beauties in the black.
